A bit about Skipton Snagging

It’s not that long a story but it might help you decide to trust us with your snagging survey!

For the last 15 years I’ve been involved in property. I started out working on new build sites then took a slight detour to go to university as a mature student and ended up managing properties for the university. From there I went into the private sector and then into the NHS managing property. After that I started my own company building, renovating and managing properties. When I moved to Skipton, I decided to put all that accumulated knowledge to good use going into the professional field and Skipton Snagging became a thing when I realised I spent a lot of my time doing exactly this for friends, the same way I had been for property investors for the last decade!

I firmly believe in making houses into homes, and a new build house should be no different, if anything it should be better. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons this isn’t always the case and people can end up with sub-standard finishes.

I’m fond of likening this to buying a new car. Most of us are very familiar with cars, we’ve been in lots of them, cars are small enough that most people will identify issues with them, at least material ones. If there’s a scratch on the steering wheel, or scuffs on the paintwork of your new car, you’d rightfully complain to the dealership. It should be exactly the same with your new home; if there are issues with it your developer should fix them. In fact they are obligated to by the NHBC!

That’s where Skipton Snagging comes in. If I can stretch the above analogy further, if anything was wrong below the surface with your car, you’d go to an expert, a mechanic. That’s what we do, but for new build houses. Our New Build Snagging Survey looks over your whole house, it’s a thorough inspection by an impartial professional to find all the defects within it.

A New Build Snagging Survey carried out by us covers 100’s if not 1000’s of data points in your property (depending on how pedantic you’re being about counting screws, weep vents etc). Our report gives you a clear picture of the issues in your home, which you can use to negotiate with your builder to get them resolved.
