What is snagging and why do I need it?

When you buy a new build property your home comes with an NHBC 10 year warranty, generally known as the Buildmark Warranty.

Pre completion;

Before you move in your deposit is protected in case the builder becomes insolvent.

Years 1-2 ;

Your builder fixes covered defects, backed by the NHBC’s Resolution Service

Years 3-10;

NHBC insurance protects your home against defects in specific parts of the home such as doors, windows and services.

We work under this guarantee in the first 2 years of your ownership of the property. This is the time period you have to approach your builder with any remedial (snagging) works that need to be resolved.

After all, if you were buying a new car, you wouldn’t accept one with a missing hubcap, or scratches on the uphosltery. So why should your new home be any different?
